Seifenblasen – Bubbles (part 1)

Notice: This article is kept for historical reference. Some details may be outdated.

Too noisy indoors after yesterday’s craft? Time to get outdoors (or into the bath) to make some beautiful bubbles!

Here’s another opportunity to read the German instructions together with your child. Lots of the bubble mix recipes online involve glycerin, but we assume nobody has that handy at home, so here is a simple home recipe for you. Viel Spass!

Lisa3’s Seifenblasen-Wasser Rezept
(Soap Bubble-Mix Recipe)

Die Zutaten (The ingredients)

  • ½ Becher Wasser (½ cup or small container of water)
  • ca. 5 TL Zucker (TL stands for Tee Loeffel) (approximately 5 teaspoons of sugar)
  • ca. 7 TL Geschirrspülmittel (approximately 7 teaspoons dishwashing detergent)
  • ein Strohhalm oder das lange Ende einer Seifenpumpe (a straw or the long part of a liquid soap pump)
Die Zutaten

Zubereitung (Preparation)

(Fill a cup halfway with water.)

(Dissolve about 5 teaspoons of sugar in the water.)

(Now add plenty of dishwashing detergent — maybe about 7 teaspoons — and mix well until it is very foamy.)

(Dip your straw into the soapy water and gently blow into it to make nice soap bubbles. If it doesn’t work yet, add some more dishwashing detergent.)

(You don’t have a straw at home? Maybe you can use the long straw part of a liquid soap pump bottle instead.)

Lass den Spaß beginnen (Let the fun begin)

Wie groß kannst du deine Seifenblasen machen? (How big can you make your soap bubbles?)

(How many soap bubbles come out of your straw before you have to refill?)

Schaffst du es deine Seifenblasen wieder einzufangen? (Are you able to catch your soap bubbles after they fly off?)
