Willkommen bei Spielwelt
German language and belonging
Spielwelt helps German families in Canberra grow through language, culture and community.
Start anywhere, stay connected
A German community in Canberra with many ways in
As a warm German community in Canberra, Spielwelt brings families together through playgroups, GAP Playschool, Pfadfinder and events. Some families begin with a weekly program, others first arrive through an event, and many stay connected as children grow because the community around those offers becomes part of everyday life.
- Programs from the early years through to Pfadfinder and community life beyond
- Welcoming to families with different language backgrounds and levels of confidence
- Shared traditions, friendships and a local place to keep coming back to
You do not need to understand every part of Spielwelt at once. Start with the entry point that fits your family now, and the wider community becomes clearer as you go.

What people value about Spielwelt

Parent of a Playgroup child
New to Canberra
“We first came for playgroup when we were new to Canberra, and then realised there was a whole family community around it, from the hall and the park to the songs and events.”

GAP family
Now part of events and traditions
“Our daughter started with songs and stories, and now our family looks forward to the events as much as the weekly program itself. It feels colourful, lived-in and genuinely ours.”
