GAP is operated by Spielwelt, a not-for-profit community organisation that has supported German language, culture and connection in Canberra for decades.

Unlike many larger childcare providers, GAP has always been shaped by families as well as educators. Parent involvement helps support events, working bees, fundraising activities and the wider community that surrounds the playschool.

Families are expected to contribute a small amount of time throughout the year. This shared involvement helps keep GAP community-focused and is one of the reasons many families value the sense of connection they find here.

A caring community, strong connections and a playschool experience like no other.

The GAP fee covers much more than daily care. It helps support the people, spaces and experiences that make up your child’s playschool journey.

Qualified German-speaking educators who support children’s learning, wellbeing and development every day.

Books, craft materials, activities, excursions and the resources that bring learning to life.

Indoor and outdoor learning spaces, administration, licensing, insurance and regulatory requirements.

A 48-week program delivered by a not-for-profit community organisation that has supported German-speaking families in Canberra for decades.

The fees shown on this page are the full amount before Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is applied.

Many families are eligible for CCS and therefore pay significantly less than the full listed fee. The exact amount depends on your family’s circumstances and CCS assessment.

Complete your Child Care Subsidy assessment through myGov and Centrelink.

Provide your CCS and CRN details during the GAP enrolment process.

Accept and confirm your child’s enrolment when prompted by Services Australia.

CCS is applied to your account and you pay the remaining balance.

Most families find the process straightforward once their CCS assessment is in place. If you’re unsure where to start, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.

From fees and Childcare Subsidy to enrolment, term dates and your child’s first day, you’ll find the key practical information here in one place.

Fees are usually due before the start of each term, or shortly before your child begins if joining during the year.

In some circumstances, instalment arrangements may be available by agreement. Please contact us if you need to discuss payment options.

Occasionally, excursions or special activities may incur a small additional charge. These are usually modest and communicated in advance.

Short absences do not usually reduce fees. Public holidays and the overall yearly rhythm are already built into GAP’s fee structure.

If your family’s circumstances change, please talk to us as early as possible. Notice periods and refund arrangements are outlined in our policies.

We’re happy to answer practical questions and help direct you to the right information.
