An evening of stories and imagination
Story Night is a much-loved Spielwelt tradition where families come together to celebrate the joy of storytelling in German.
Created by families for families, the evening features stories, songs and, from time to time, a traditional German puppet theatre (Kasperletheater). Young audiences are encouraged to sing along, join in and become part of the adventure.
It’s a relaxed and welcoming evening where language comes alive through imagination.
What to expect
The evening may include:
- Stories told in German
- Traditional and modern children’s songs
- Interactive storytelling
- A German puppet theatre performance
- Opportunities for children to sing along and participate
Every Story Night is a little different, making each one a unique experience for the children who attend.
An evening made by our community
Story Night is organised and performed by Spielwelt families and volunteers.
Parents, older children and members of our Pfadfinder group all help bring the evening to life, creating a warm and memorable experience for younger children and their families.
It is one of the many ways our community shares language, culture and creativity across generations.

Why stories matter
Stories are one of the most powerful ways for children to experience language.
Listening to familiar tales, joining in with songs and watching performances helps children build confidence in German while creating positive memories they will carry with them long after the evening ends.
Everyone is welcome
Story Night is open to Spielwelt Playgroup and GAP Playschool families and is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy German together outside the regular weekly programs.
Come along for an evening filled with stories, music, laughter and community.
