Frequently asked questions
Yes. Pfadfinder is a German-speaking Scout group. Meetings, camps and activities are conducted in German, and our leaders rarely speak English with the children. Children should therefore be comfortable understanding and communicating in German so they can participate fully, make friends and stay safe during activities.
If you’re unsure whether your child’s German is at the right level, we’d love to chat. Come along for a Schnupperstunde and meet the group before deciding.
Children usually join the section that matches their age:
- Joeys: 6–8 years
- Cubs: 8–11 years
- Scouts: 12–14 years
- Venturers: 15–17 years
If you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll help you find the right section.
Comfortable clothing suitable for indoor and outdoor activities and a water bottle are usually all that’s needed. We’ll let you know if anything different is required.
Yes. Parents stay with their child during trial visits so everyone has the opportunity to meet the leaders, ask questions and get to know the group.
Most meetings are held at Turner Scout Hall, but we regularly meet in Haig Park or head out on excursions and outdoor activities. Please contact us before visiting so we can let you know where the group will be.
