Share, swap and support one another
Twice each year, Spielwelt families come together to exchange children’s clothing and toys that are ready for a new home.
As children grow quickly, many items are only used for a short time. Our Clothing & Toy Swap helps families recycle quality items, reduce waste and support one another—all while strengthening our community.
The swap is part of Spielwelt’s Keen-to-be-Green initiative and is available to Spielwelt members.
How it works
It’s simple:
- Bring along clean, good-quality children’s clothing or toys you no longer need.
- Browse the donated items whenever it suits you during the swap period.
- Take home anything your family can use.
There is no expectation that you must donate in order to take something home. The goal is simply to make good use of quality children’s items within our community.
What can be donated?
Families regularly contribute:
- Children’s clothing (approximately sizes 00000–12)
- Toys
- Baby items
- Seasonal clothing
- Children’s accessories
Please only donate clean, safe and good-quality items that another family would be happy to receive.
When does the swap happen?
The Clothing & Toy Swap takes place twice each year:
- June – during the two weeks leading up to the Lantern Walk
- November – during the two weeks leading up to Oktoberfest für Familien, making it a great opportunity to find Christmas gifts and summer clothing
Families will receive an email when donations can begin.
Browse throughout the fortnight
Swap tables are usually located in the east foyer of Turner Scout Hall or outdoors, depending on the weather.
New donations arrive throughout the two-week period, so it’s worth checking back regularly if you don’t find exactly what you’re looking for the first time.
Nothing goes to waste
After the swap finishes, any remaining items are donated to local charities, including Roundabout Canberra, The Salvation Army or St Vincent de Paul, ensuring they continue helping families beyond the Spielwelt community.

Our Clothing & Toy Swap is organised by volunteers as part of Spielwelt’s commitment to sustainability, generosity and community.
Every donation, every reused item and every family who takes part helps reduce waste while making life a little easier for others.
