Celebrate one of Spielwelt’s favourite annual traditions
Federweißer Fest brings families together for a relaxed afternoon and evening of German food, conversation and community.
Inspired by the traditional autumn wine festivals of Germany, the event celebrates the first young wine of the season alongside hearty regional food and plenty of opportunities to meet new and familiar faces.

Please check the event sign-up sheet if you’d like to lend a hand.

What is Federweißer?
Federweißer is a young, partially fermented wine traditionally enjoyed during the grape harvest in Germany and Austria. It is lightly sparkling, sweet and only available for a short time each year.
Depending on where you come from, you may know it as Federweißer, Neuer Süßer, Sauser, Suser or Sturm.
For our celebration, the Federweißer is specially produced by Collector Wines, owned by Pfadfinder parent Alex McKay, making this tradition uniquely local to Canberra.
Everyone is welcome
Federweißer Fest is one of the easiest ways to experience Spielwelt.
Come along to enjoy good food, meet German-speaking families from across Canberra and discover the community that brings German language, culture and belonging together throughout the year.
